Variability among common bean lines for maximum dry matter accumulation in the grains

Abstract The objective of this work was to verify if there is variability in the dry matter accumulation rate grains carioca-type common bean, as well identify success selection for trait and best time harvest. Sixteen lines with were evaluated three sowing seasons through samples five plants obtained at regular intervals. A quadratic equation used estimate number days obtain maximum grains. low observed among lines, discouraging trait. ideal moment harvesting when 100% present typical stripes carioca which may vary within pods same plant. If harvest carried out before complete physiological maturation reached, decreases, on average, 2.75% per day.
